but at the last moment...the wedding was moved inside...we we still having fun...

Hurrah Hurrah...another great weekend....my buddy C2 "just so happened" to be attending a family wedding in South Florida (2 hours from my house) and said, "hey, want to join me?" Of course I say, "heck yeah".....so this past Friday we hoofed it down the freeway and landed in a harborfront townhouse .....all to ourselves for 2 nites...no husbands, no worries....

the agenda:

• Friday nite...Waterfront dining ....afterdinner drinks & time with C's gorgeous Mama



• Saturday morning...sleep in, drink too much coffee, lunch, watch the boats go by



• Saturday afternoon...pool time...people watching...fruity drinks...oh yeah



• Saturday evening....wedding, dinner, drop Hannah off at ACA VB camp just down the road, back to hotel, more time watching boats go by



• Sunday morning...sleep in, drink too much coffee, watch the boats go by and check out.....leave each other...cups full because, finally, we had enough time to catch up....

I truly love this girl.....C...you're the best....until we meet again...(got anything coming up?) Hugs!

Sum Sum Summertime....

Summertime is slowtime...time to stay in your jammies way too long; time to drink more coffee than you should; time to blow off working out and doing chores and grocery shopping (sorry family) and for va-cay...and that's what we've been doing....

July4th weekend (Thurs-Sun) we spent in Ashevegas....yep, we took the party bus and the gatorfamily of 3 and headed up to the mountains. It was great...for a whole weekend...we were tourists HAHA

Felt great to be back in the "big house"....we arrived around 3 AM...let's just say we had a little trouble getting out of Slowcala....we were so pumped we all didn't even try to go to bed until around 4:30AM....then we did the usual stuff you do when you're dragging out...eyes all crusty and sleepy....we dragged it out to the living room, drank coffee and just chatted...

It was a "pretend beautiful weather" weekend there....0% humidity, sunny, cool, breezy mountain air and no bugs"....everything opposite of Flo-RI-da...so we opened up the windows and doors and just took it all in....our Gator friends were asking, "tell us again why you left this pristine place?" That's when we reminded them that this was "pretend weather". Typical Asheville weather is cold, gray, rainy, and gloomy...and really, do you want Summer to be cool? I say, "heck no!"

But, we were being tourists so we acted like this was the norm. We decided to just spruce up a teeny bit above our "jammy-wear" and head out for a hike around "The Ramble"...prettiest neighborhood in Ashevegas...lots and lots to look at...while we were out we got the infamous call that the house was going to "Show"....we scrambled back, did what was necessary to hide the fact that 6 tourists had just landed about 7 hours earlier and were living out of suitcases....we vacated the place and prayed..."Please God, let this be the one so we can celebrate while we are here the sale of this magnificent place".

We decided at that moment our "attire" would have to do for the next few hours...we headed up to the top of Mt. Pisgah for a hike....it was fabulous on the top...great views from there...our Floridian gators were amazed....fun fun

We hiked, saw waterfalls, dipped our toes in the frigid mountain stream, and ate boxed lunches...more fun.

Our prayers were not answered the way we wanted...they said, "no"...aggghhh! But we enjoyed our day anyway.

Later that evening we invited a group of our A-vegas pals over for an impromtu pizza party...very much fun reconnecting with these beloved buddies of ours.

Next day: White water rafting...we're still waiting for the picture to arrive in the mail....icy water, again 0% humidity, cool breeze, another perfect outing.

That evening: Gourmet dinner and fireside chats at the Hosey House....a perfect ending to a perfect day...(note to self, find a friend that is NOT a fabulous cook so I can look better)

Sunday: Church at Grace...our old favorite stomping grounds....loved it...and, of course, lunch at Earth Fare...when in Ashevegas....eat like the vegans we love....haha...then hit the bakery for chocochocochip cookies, pecan pie, chocolate cupcakes....put the house back together for more potential buyers, get back in the party bus and head south to Flo-Ri-Da.

11:30 PM....home sweet home...hello pets!

movie warning

Adrianne goes to class every morning and works every evening....tonite she had the nite off....Whit was babysitting...so we thought we'd do "movie nite". My honey didn't know what he was in for so he joined us.

We cried...it was a pointless movie meant to break your heart and then leave it in the dumpster...no offer of hope for the dying or those they leave behind...save your money...stay home and thank the Lord, if you know Him that we do indeed have hope! Hollywood just doesn't get it!

Slowcala Summertime

Man is it hot in Slowcala...did I say that? It's finally cooled off a bit but we had a week or so in the high high 90's where the car was registering over 100 degrees....too hot for "top down"...bummer!

This is a picture of the inside of our A/C unit...(the white stuff is ice on the coils) we couldn't understand why the "unit" wasn't cooling down. Mr. A/C man asked, "when was the last time you changed your filter?" Huh? Don't they change themselves? He chuckled and said, "you'll be cooled down in just a minute".....so if I have been here 12 months and they are supposed to be cleaned 1x/month......argh! Fixed! Check 1

Check 2... Had my "basil cell carcinoma" removed by the Slowcala famous plastic surgeon....I was on a table TOTALLY awake!! I didn't feel anything except for "tugging"...which translates "digging"...I was totally freaked out and a little nauseous...but it's out and I look yucky...stitches come out this Weds.

Me...no makeup, bruise and swollen...I know it scares me too!!

Check 3...Father's Day was a big hit....good time for Mr. Millah....he got his "humidor" for his precious ceee-gars...plus a few other goodies including this "wild and crazy Flor-i-da" outfit....we treat him like "Ken" and play dress up. He's such a good looking "doll". On a sad note though, it was the first Father's Day without any Grandfather's present....all have left the planet....2 this very year...Heaven Hugs to Granddad Jim, Papaw Jim and Grandpa Joe.

Check 4....Everyone is on vacay...so we've planned a trip to Ashevegas this July 4...can't wait to see all my friends...can't wait to sleep in my own bed (after 6 months), and wander around MY OWN HOME!!!! Hooray....bring the Gator-family with us...they need to "cool down" too....going whitewater rafting on Saturday and firework watching...can't wait!

Check 5....my workout buddy, "my friend Mary" as Marc ALWAYS says I call her...is moving back to Illinois....her hubby got a promotion and they were sent home. WAIT..I'm the newbie here...I'm not suppose to be saying "Good-bye" to new friends...thats just it...they're NEW friends....I'm happy for her...she'll be closer to her 2 sons! Bye Mary! Miss you already! You really kick-bu-- in the gym!

Check 6...Can't close out the blog without including this cool pic of Gator-Valerie...she's in Vegas with her Mom, "Hot-Dot" and her Sister...celebrating Hot Dot's 70th b-day....it was her favorite spot where she & GV's Daddy always went ...He's in heaven now so the girls are there in his stead....GV has some explaining to do.....

Gator Valerie & Gator Scott...and Vegas Valerie and hmmm, oh yeah, Elvis! hahaha GET HOME....you're getting crazy! :)

Finally, check 7...have to include the reason why trips to the gym aren't as obvious these days....that darn Bone-Fish serves this chocolate treasure....2 HOT HOT brownies, covered in fudge icing then coolwhip AND ice-cream...it makes us sick every time..

....but we keep on ordering it! Happy Summer!!

no more whining...

Weekend wrap-up...the solution to whining...is to go to a winery...hahahha, ok, not really...but we did and it was fun.

Friday nite's "hospital foundation" bar-b-q ended up being really fun...alot of our hospital buddies were there PLUS grilled burgers and all the trimmings poolside under a tent was relaxing and enjoyable...(you know, music, pool, outside, food...all my favorite stuff)

Saturday nite ...movie nite with the gator-fam...I LOVE THE MOVIE 'THE PROPOSAl' with Sandra Bullock...very entertaining... THEN...the guys were hungry...keep in mind it's now 10PM...they believe STEAK N SHAKE is where we will go....how do you be "good" at Steak n Shake? Answer? You don't...so you go ahead and order the fries and smother them with ketchup...(mmmmmmm, see Feb, 19 post) I skipped the milkshake...not super human... just don't like milkshakes!

Sunday....besides attending the greatest church on the planet GO CENTERPOINT!!! (centerpointocala.com) We headed off to "Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards"...the temp read 105 degrees...this would have been an absolute blast had I not been melting...there was wine tasting and tours and a SHOPPING opportunites galore :)...a live band, wine stomping, crafts, art, food......and heat....Had a great time...a good day with Marc's family!!

Tonite....Is "Wine & Cheese with Friends" at the college....the invitation reads:

"We will be able to share with you the much sought after demonstation model of the DaVinci Surgical System"...Not only will our skilled sureons be on-hand to discuss this tech. and answer any q's that you might have, but also you will have the rare opp. to sit in the surgeon's console and test-drive the system yourself"...

Do they know just who they mailed this to? Mr. Miller will have to keep me on a leash...I will so "test drive the system myself". Hahaha...this will be fun!
